NORDIC APARTMENT, 2024
Close

This residential project is located in a building of architectural significance representing the Northern Romantic Style. It has retained key original features, such as mouldings, decorative ironmongery, carvings, and stained glass.

The brief was to preserve and carefully restore the apartment’s prominent architectural features, whilst adding an atmosphere of tranquillity and modernity. Opting for a calm, cool colour scheme throughout, Studio Caché evoke in the interior the ethereal quality of the famous Northern White Nights. The restrained Romantic elegance of the Baltic is infused with a minimalist aesthetic. Emphasis is placed on subtle interplay between textures and patinas, plays of light, as well as a beautifully curated selection of iconic furniture pieces. Mirrored surfaces create striking reflections and simulacra, contrasting with the classical architectural elements and bringing visual interaction between the old and the new.

An impressive, circular, open-plan living room and kitchen feature a traditional, tiled, wood burning stove from the period as well as original ceiling mouldings that can also be found throughout the rest of the apartment.

Some of the iconic items of furniture and fittings featured in the space are the modular Pixel sofa by Saba, a sculptural Gweilo Qin Pe light by Partisans, a Flos String cluster, and fabrics by the luxury French manufacturer Lielivre. Some of the other brands featured are Dry Studios, Karakter, Bonaldo and Gubi.
