TADMARTON GRANGE, 2023

Situated in the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside, this magnificent eight-bedroom house has been meticulously reimagined to create an enchanting family retreat for their London-based clients. Built in 1842, Tadmarton Grange is a striking Grade II listed property encompassing an impressive 693 square meters and nestled amidst landscaped gardens.

The brief was to create an interior that would not only pay homage to the building’s architecture and locality, but the clients’ international backgrounds, love of colour and specific preferences for materials and finishes. It was also essential for the space to be functional, and suitable for hosting the family’s very active small children.

Central to Studio Cache’s design vision was the creation of a heritage-inspired colour palette that exudes timeless charm and provides a unique atmosphere in each room. Rich dark greens, soothing soft blues, peachy pinks, and subtle greys have been woven throughout the property, creating a living environment that is both sophisticated and inviting. These hues serve as a backdrop for a carefully curated mix of unique antique furniture, contemporary statement pieces, and elegantly understated everyday classics, resulting in a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. Hero pieces include a custom patchwork Carrara marble dining table by Momento; the iconic Canteen Scrapwood Table by Piet Hein Eek; a Folio bookcase by Roche Bobois; an original Gustavian Rococo sofa and several impressive antique French Louis XV mirrors.

Statement wallpapers were used throughout the bathrooms and some of the living areas to add contrast to the large areas of heritage colour. These include designs by Zoffany and Schumacher as well as two Van Gogh prints in the living room and the master bedroom.

As part of the project Studio Cache completely redesigned a run down, existing annex into an elevated guest wing, featuring a living area with custom kitchenette by DeVol as well as 3 bedrooms with their own unique atmosphere. Additionally, the team created two playrooms, designed to spark the imagination and delight of both children and adults alike. The attic playroom stands out as a captivating retreat, complete with a hammock and dramatic red velvet theatre curtains by Westcot House.

As sustainability is an important factor in all of Studio Cache’s work, the team reused and recycled numerous existing elements of furniture and fittings, blending them into their design and reducing the environmental impact of the project.
