Catch 22 is a listening bar, split across two distinct zones – the first being lively and dynamic, with the option of clearing seating for a more club-like environment, while the second is a subdued, sultry lounge space, draped in velvet and populated with comfortable sofas and armchairs. Both spaces are dark and tactile, with a touch of casualness that gives the space a lived-in aesthetic.
A key tenet of the Catch 22 listening bar interior was the integration of existing characterful materials and finish into a harmonious and atmospheric environment. This included brick walls and deep, marble window cills that were reutilised as cosy seating areas. These industrial finishes were softened with reclaimed oak parquet flooring, rugs and rich velvet curtaining. The materials used were also chosen for their sound-insulating properties in order to ensure optimum clarity of sound in the listening bar.
The centrepiece is the bar counter – finished in Walnut Burl veneer. A custom shelving unit in American Walnut houses the bar’s vinyl collection, memorabilia as well as the impressive hi-fi equipment.
